GSTG Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hyo-sang) participated in the "FSB 2025 (International Trade Fair for Public Space, Sports and Leisure Facilities)," the world's largest sports and leisure facility exhibition, held in Cologne, Germany from October 28th to 31st.

This exhibition, featuring 575 companies from 46 countries and attracting approximately 30,000 visitors, highlighted the future direction of the global sports and leisure infrastructure industry with key themes such as sustainability, energy efficiency, and digital solutions.
At its booth, GSTG showcased a variety of products, including artificial turf, hybrid turf (Cabaron, HERO), and golf mats. High-performance artificial turf made with eco-friendly yarn and recyclable materials, as well as products with durable, low-fill systems, garnered significant attention in the European market.

These products received favorable reviews from many European buyers for meeting quality, technological prowess, and environmental standards. Hybrid grass for sports fields and golf courses, which has garnered particular attention, is designed with a 20mm-thick sand layer to ensure compatibility with existing natural grass and turf. It possesses the same functionality and texture as natural grass, while also being resistant to external impacts, resulting in a natural course presentation and high durability.

During the exhibition, GST established a network with approximately 60 new buyers, and continues to maintain positive communication with buyers from various countries, including Europe, the Middle East, and the US, even after the event.
GST Director Lee Seong-min stated, "Through this exhibition, we achieved meaningful results by strengthening our brand awareness and technological competitiveness in the global market and expanding new partnership opportunities."

Meanwhile, GST has completed the development of eco-friendly, high-performance artificial turf products and plans to focus on global commercialization and market expansion.

이들 제품은 품질과 기술력, 환경 기준을 동시에 만족시킨다는 점에서 많은 유럽 바이어들로부터 좋은 평가를 받았다. 특히 주목받은 스포츠구장및 골프장용 하이브리드 잔디는 기존 천연잔디 및 뗏장과 호환적용이 되도록 모래층 20mm 두께로 설계됐다. 천연잔디와 동일한 기능 및 질감을 가지면서도 외부 충격에 강해 자연스러운 코스 연출과 높은 내구성을 지닌다.

In his congratulatory speech, Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Administration Director Cho Hee-soo said, "Looking back on this year, there were many challenges to our economy," and added, "Externally, the global economic uncertainty increased as the US-China global hegemony competition continued, and domestically, the situation was not easy as consumer sentiment did not recover due to high prices and high interest rates after COVID-19."

24~27th Cologne Exhibition Center… Focus on social functions of leisure and sports facilities | 10 Korean companies exhibiting artificial grass, flooring, seating, and play facilities

The international sports and leisure exhibition ‘FSB&amp;aquanale’ will be held for four days from the 24th to the 27th of next month at the Cologne Exhibition Center in Germany.

According to Rheinmesse (Kolnmesse Korea Office) on the 18th, ‘FSB’, held every other year, deals with sports and leisure facilities and equipment, while the concurrent event ‘Aquanale’ is an exhibition on sauna and swimming pool facilities.

This year’s event focuses on social sustainability to maintain a healthy community.

This is to revive the leisure and sports industry, which has been in a long slump due to a decrease in outdoor activities caused by the infectious disease outbreak and a surge in energy costs following the Russia-Ukraine War.

Stephen Canbyshire, Chairman of the International Association of Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), emphasized that “FSB 2023 will provide a springboard for the leisure and sports industry to take a leap forward,” and that “it will highlight the social functions that increase the centripetal force of local communities.”

The ‘FSB 2023’ exhibition hall will expand the amusement facilities and public facilities exhibition hall to its largest scale ever.

This is to increase the industry’s interest in park facilities and playground equipment as outdoor activities increase and the importance of parks grows. Playground facilities for children’s physical development and community-specific facilities will also be highlighted.

‘FSB 2023’ will feature 450 global leading companies from 40 countries in various fields, including amusement facilities, ice sports facilities, outdoor exercise equipment, and materials for sports centers.

Major participating companies include EuroTramp, known for its trampolines; Konica and Polytan, leading companies in flooring for stadiums and sports facilities; Regupol, a manufacturer of elastic flooring; SMG Sports Machine Bau; Haro Hamburg Flooring; Kaiser &amp; Kne, a company specializing in playground equipment with outstanding design and functionality; and Berliner Zylfabrik.

Ten companies from Korea are participating, including Geumryong, Design Park Development, Samkwang N-Sitting, S-Build, Unitech System, GS Web, GST, Hosu Industry, Fine Chemical, and GSK. These companies specialize in artificial grass, flooring, seating, and playground equipment.

280 companies from 30 countries are participating in ‘Aquanale 2023’, including Fluidra and Niveco, leading companies in high-end swimming pool equipment materials; and Schmallenberger and Spec Pufen, a German pump manufacturer.

The side events during the exhibition period include the IAKS Congress, the International Swimming Pool and Wellness Forum (ISWF), the Planner Forum, and the Marketplace Play &amp; Exercise.

The Planner Forum covers the latest trending sports that are rapidly changing in Korea, especially among the MZ generation, such as running crews, climbing, golf, tennis, and mountaineering.

Golf Industry Newspaper 10th Anniversary | Selection of Leading Companies Related to Golf Courses | Focus on ‘Lists, Not Rankings’ by Sector

Which companies are most active in the Korean golf course industry and have the greatest influence?

To mark the 10th anniversary of its launch, this magazine selected the ‘50 Companies Leading the Korean Golf Course Industry’. This is to recognize and learn about the scale, diversity, and role of the commercial aspect of the golf course industry.

The Korean golf course market is growing day by day, and as of 2023, there are approximately 600 golf courses (equivalent to 18 holes) in operation.

In addition, a total of 15 golf courses (equivalent to 18 holes) opened nationwide this year, and construction is underway for 10 more golf courses with the goal of opening next year. There are approximately 20 sites where golf course construction is being newly promoted or under review.

This selection of the ‘Top 50 Companies Leading the Golf Course Industry in Korea’ was planned with the purpose of widely publicizing and emphasizing the vitality, scale, and diversity of the golf course industry, which is one of the core fields of golf.

In the past, there have been many cases in the golf industry of selecting famous golf courses or golf equipment-related products or brands, such as ‘Best Course’, ‘Top 10 Famous Courses’, and ‘Power Brands’.

However, there was almost no data that could examine the companies that play the most important role in the industry related to golf courses.

These companies are mainly related to golf course development and operation or course and facility management, and are not well known to golfers and the public, so they are not well known despite their large share in the entire golf industry.

However, these companies are absolutely important to golf courses and golfers by helping them build golf courses and maintain high-quality courses.

In particular, course management equipment and crop protection products help maintain healthy growth of grass, which is essential to golf courses, and an eco-friendly course.

Accordingly, this magazine selected 50 companies related to the golf course industry and wanted to publicize the most leading and recognized companies in the industry.

As the summer heat continues for a long time, reaching temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius, golf courses across the country are focusing on course management. Grass species planted on golf courses are largely classified into warm-season and cool-season types according to their optimal growth temperature. Currently, creeping bentgrass is mainly used among the cool-season grasses planted on domestic golf course greens.

In the case of creeping bentgrass, the optimal growth temperature is 15-25℃, and it grows vigorously in spring and fall in Korea, but in the hot and humid summer, it experiences a summer decline, rapidly declining growth, and damage from diseases and pests also increases significantly. This phenomenon of bentgrass growth decline in summer can be said to be a complex stress phenomenon mainly caused by high temperature and humidity, poor drainage, insufficient sunlight, and poor air circulation.

In particular, due to abnormally high temperatures, the course surface temperature rises, causing the grass growth to rapidly deteriorate and, in severe cases, even die. In order to maintain bentgrass in high-temperature stress conditions during summer, it is very important to block strong UV rays and lower the soil temperature of the green surface.

The cooling cover mat developed by GSTG is a natural grass cover mat product that protects grass during high temperatures by alleviating the phenomenon of the cooling mat. The cooling mat uses a ceramic yarn material called ‘Toray Lumipol Yarn’ to block strong sunlight and has excellent heat dissipation ability. In fact, in the results of an experiment conducted by GSTG last summer through a specialized grass research institute, it was confirmed that the soil temperature was lowered by 1~7℃ in all cooling mat-treated areas compared to the untreated areas.

Also, the higher the maximum temperature, the greater the difference in soil temperature between the treated and untreated areas. In the investigation of the effect on soil moisture content in the grass planting area, the soil moisture content was slightly higher in the cooling mat-covered area compared to the untreated area. This shows that the cooling mat cover does not cause soil over-wet conditions and has a negative effect on grass growth. In other words, covering the cool-season grass greens with cooling mats in the summer high-temperature season is judged to be an effective method to alleviate the phenomenon of cool-season grass (bent grass, Kentucky bluegrass) in the summer by lowering the soil temperature and promoting grass root growth.
